The diesel engine tram positioning tool consists of 3 parts. A Tramming tool that sits in an empty engine cylinder bore, a servo-controlled engine barring over motor positioner, and a controller. The operator places the tramming tool in the appropriate cylinder bore. Then mounts the engine positioner. The controller then rotates the engine, detecting and measuring the tramming tools’ deflection as the crank rotates. Once the engine has rotated through Top Dead Center. The deflection and position matrix is curve fitted to determine Top Dead Center, then the servo positioning system rotates the engine to the TDC position for proper placement of the Engine Position Sensors
